Hiring for CTYOnline is very competitive. Each year, we receive many more applications than we have positions available. Because our student enrollment varies during the year, we need instructors and teaching assistants who can begin work as soon as possible after being hired, often as soon as the necessary background checks are completed.

Note that all mathematics, computer science, and science courses below the AP level are individually paced courses.

A criminal background check is part of our employment process.

Applicants most likely to be selected for interviews hold at least one advanced degree or are graduate students in a relevant field. In general, we look for applicants who have teaching experience, a familiarity with the applicable age group, and the email and basic computer and technology skills needed to guide CTYOnline students to success in their online courses. Center for Talented Youth (CTY) shares with its parent organization, the Johns Hopkins University, a three-part mission of teaching, research, and service. More specifically, CTY:

Seeks students of the highest academic ability through its talent search and offers them challenging educational opportunities that develop the intellect, encourage achievement, and nurture social development.
Conducts research and evaluation studies that advance knowledge about gifted education; develops best practices in educating highly able children; and disseminates its findings to parents, the education community, and policymakers.
Supports educators in their efforts to meet the needs of highly able students, assists parents in advocating for their gifted children, and participates actively in community service.

Hiring is an ongoing process, depending upon student enrollment. It is fair to say that an applicant's best chance of being hired will be during the summer, so applying during the spring is a good idea.

How to Search for a Job at CTYOnline

First, go to JHUjobs, and select "Find your new job" from the left column.

Second, enter "CTY" in the Keyword Search box, and select "Show jobs."

Third, review the job titles to see if any would interest you, and select that job title to find out more details, including qualifications.

Fourth, if you fit the desired qualifications and wish to apply, write down the Requisition number, and follow the directions below.
