Corporate Sponsorship and Sustaining Organizations

• Sustaining Organizations

The Society for Technical Communication (STC) is a Section 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational, scientific, and charitable organization dedicated to furthering the art of communicating technical information and promoting the education, improvement, and advancement of its members. STC is the world's largest professional organization serving the technical communication profession. STC is over 54 years old, with 160 chapters, 20 SIGs, and 18,000 members worldwide.

The Washington, DC Chapter (WDC), the Capital Chapter, is one of the largest in the Society with over 600 members. Our members are employed by private firms, government agencies, and academic institutions, or work as consultants. They share their expertise with the community and with newcomers to the technical communication field in many ways.

Voluntary donations to the Washington, DC Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication help the chapter support the funds for our Austin T. Brown Technical Communication Scholarship for high school students and the Shirley G. Carter Memorial Scholarship for college students. If you or your company would like to sponsor an event, competition, or contribute to the future of a technical communicator, we welcome all contributions and sponsorships of chapter activities and events. Meeting room space and equipment donations to the chapter are also gladly accepted. For a list of our current needs, please see our Donations Wish List.

The Washington, DC Chapter gratefully posts the logo of organizations that donate money or services to the chapter for the year. The logos are posted on our Corporate Sponsors page and can be linked to a URL. Logos will remain on the page for one chapter year (July to July) and then retained on an archive page of past supporters. New donors are welcome throughout the year and their logos or identification will be posted for the remainder of the year.

If you would like your logo displayed on our site, please supply artwork for the logo as an EPS, GIF, JPEG, PNG, or TIFF image (along with a URL, if desired) to

The Washington, DC Chapter reserves the right to refuse or reject the donation of any company or individual, and to reject links to URLs that are deemed inappropriate. The Washington, DC Chapter's Webmaster has final say in these decisions.
