About the Event
The instructor will conduct two hands-on workshops: one in the morning for Adobe Acrobat and one in the afternoon for Adobe Photoshop. In each workshop, each participant will work on his or her own project, from start to finish, using the skills and tools presented.
In the Acrobat session, participants will learn how to:
- Convert source files to PDF
- Add navigational structure to PDF documents
- Use and create hyperlinks
- Create forms
- Create annotations
- Capture images
- Set file security
In the Photoshop session, participants will learn how to:
- Manipulate JPEG and GIF files with cropping, pixilation, and other tools
- Make photographs Web ready
- Prepare graphic files for animation
Target audience
These workshops will introduce technical writers to the key features of each software package. The target audience is technical writers with beginning to intermediate knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and little to no prior knowledge of Photoshop.
About the instructor
Tonya Archer has over 15 years of experience as a programmer, trainer, project manager and instructional designer. She specializes in developing Web-based applications and teaches a variety of computer programs with an emphasis on "real-world" case studies and day-to-day applications.
Food
Light pastries and juice will be served in the morning. Lunch, at one of many nearby affordable restaurants, will be on your own.

The fee covers both the morning and afternoon sessions and cannot be reduced or split if a participant is interested in attending only one of the sessions.

Admission fees help to offset the costs of our programs. Fees may vary from program to program because of the costs of food and beverages, room rental, and other services. Our attendees pay slightly different fees depending on whether they are members, nonmembers, students, chapter volunteers, or walk-ins. We also sometimes offer a program-only option for programs that are not held in restaurants.

Because there are a limited number of spaces for this workshop, we require all attendees to register and pay in advance.
