Writer's Guidelines for Capital Letter

Please review and follow these writer's guidlines before submitting a draft for publication in Capital Letter.

Our Production Schedule

Capital Letter is published bi-monthly, during odd-numbered months. The following is our publishing schedule:

  • All content due is by the 10th of the even-numbered month preceding the publication month.
    Example: Content for the September issue is due by August 10.
  • Editing begins on the 10th of the month and is completed by the 20th.
  • Production begins on the 20th and is completed by the last day of the month.
  • Publication occurs on the first Tuesday of odd-numbered months.

Our Writing Guidelines

  • Feature articles should be between 500 and 750 words.
  • Book and software reviews should be between 100 and 150 words.

All articles must include the following information:

  • The author's name
  • The author's e-mail address
  • The author's brief biography

All submissions are considered for publication in the next issue or in a future issue, depending on the amount of content needed. Where necessary, we reserve the right to edit submissions for grammar and clarity. While we prefer original articles written specifically for Capital Letter, we sometimes reprint articles that are properly sourced and for which we have received reprint permission.

About Publication Permissions

Capital Letter invites writers to submit articles to be considered for publication. By submitting an article, the writer implicitly grants permission to publish the article in Capital Letter. The writer also grants permission to print the article in other STC publications without permission. The writer holds the copyright.

Please let the Managing Editor know whether your article has been submitted to other publications for consideration, or whether it has actually been published in other publications.

How and Where to Submit Your Content

To submit content for publication in Capital Letter, please include the following:

  • The content of your submission in either MS Word or plain text format
  • Your biography in either MS Word or plain text format (this can be included in the content)
  • Any supporting graphics
