Guapo's has two entrances: one on Wisconsin Avenue and one on Woodmont Avenue across from the parking garage.

By Metro:

Take the Red line to the Bethesda Metro station. (For transfer information, consult the Metrorail system map.)

Head up the long set of escalators to the bus bay and the next set of short elevators to the plaza level. You'll be facing north at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Old Georgetown Road. Stay on the same side of the street and walk north (straight ahead) up Wisconsin about five blocks. Guapo's is on your left.

By Car:

From DC (Wisconsin Avenue):
Take Wisconsin Avenue north through the city, through Friendship Heights, Chevy Chase and across Old Georgetown Road. About four blocks past Old Georgetown Road, turn left onto Cordell Avenue. See parking instructions below for parking in the Public Garage.

Woodmont entrance to Guapo's Restaurant, Bethesda, MDFrom the Beltway (I-495):
Get off at exit 34 off the Beltway. Take Route 355 South (Wisconsin Avenue) about two miles. Veer off to the right onto Woodmont Avenue after you pass the Jones Bridge Road/Center Drive entrance to the National Library of Medicine. See parking instructions below for parking in the Public Garage.

Parking

Parking is FREE on Saturdays, Sundays, and County holidays. During Monday thru Friday, park at a silver meter and be sure to feed it (which will allow you two hours or more at 50 cents an hour). The blue meters only allow a maximum of two hours, and the parking authority in Bethesda doesn't hesitate to write tickets.

Public Garage

Parking location near Guapo's RestaurantThe most convenient place to park is in the metered public parking garage at 8216 Woodmont Avenue, which is across from Guapo's Woodmont Avenue entrance. Entrances to the garage are on Woodmont Avenue and Rugby Avenue.

To get to the garage:

  • Coming down Wisconsin Avenue from Rockville, veer off to the right onto Woodmont Avenue after you pass the Jones Bridge Road/Center Drive entrance to the National Library of Medicine. Drive through the light at Battery Lane and Woodmont Avenue, then turn right into the garage (marked by a blue P sign).

    If you miss one of the two turns into the parking garage on Woodmont, turn right onto Rugby Avenue then turn right into the garage entrance, which is on your right opposite Del Ray Avenue.

  • Coming up Wisconsin Avenue from DC, turn left onto Battery Lane then left onto Woodmont Avenue. The entrance to the garage is on your right.
    -OR-
    Turn left onto Cordell Avenue, then turn right onto Woodmont Avenue. Turn left onto Rugby Avenue then turn right into the garage entrance, which is on your right opposite Del Ray Avenue.
Public Open Lot

There is a public parking lot next to the gas station directly across the street from the hotel's Wisconsin Avenue entrance. However, you must be willing to risk crossing busy Wisconsin Avenue without benefit of traffic light or crosswalk at either end of the block containing the parking lot. The lot is between Maple Avenue and Highland Avenue. Turn onto Highland or Maple Avenue and go about 300 ft. to the entrance of the public parking lot.

Riding Metro to the Event

Parking in Metro lotsSmarTrip cards:
A SmarTrip card is the only form of payment accepted at Metro-operated parking lots. For more information about Metro parking and lot operating hours, see Daily parking at Metro stations.

You may purchase SmarTrip cards online from the Metro Store. (Note: The Metro Store page is on a very slow server so it may take a while for the page to load.)

Standard SmarTrip farecard: A renewable SmarTrip farecard purchased online has a $20 fare value already on it. The cost for the renewable card is $5. The total charge for this card is $25 online.

Senior and Disabled SmarTrip farecard: In order to purchase a discounted farecard, Senior citizens (65 and older) and persons with disabilities must have a valid WMATA Senior/Disabled ID card. (Applications for the free WMATA Senior/Disabled ID card are available from the Office of ADA Programs at 600 Fifth Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 20001 or by calling 202/962-1558, TTY 202/962-2033 and requesting an application be mailed to you.) A renewable SmarTrip farecard for senior and disabled riders purchased online has a $10 fare value already on it. The cost for the renewable card is $5. The total charge for this card is $15 online.

SmarTrip cards may also be purchased from vending machines in Metro stations but come with a lower initial fare value: $5 for the card with a $5 fare value for a total of $10 for the standard farecard. A separate vending machine allows you to add fare value up to $300 to the card.
