By Metro with Walking:

Kathy's home is approximately 2 miles from the Vienna Metro. If you want a ride from Metro to the house, call 703-206-0458 and we'll figure something out. If you choose to walk, here are the directions:

  1. Take your favorite public transportation to the Vienna Metro station.
  2. When you exit the turnstiles, bear right out of the station to Saintsbury Drive. If you find you're on Virginia Center Boulevard, you went out the wrong way.
  3. Make a left out of the station and follow the road (Sainsbury Dr.)
  4. At the light, turn right. You are now walking south on Nutley Street.
  5. Cross Hermosa, still heading south..
  6. At the intersection of Nutley Street and Lee Highway you'll see the Pan Am Shopping Center on the opposite corner. You'll need to cross both Nutley Street and Lee Highway. Look for a Starbucks; it's in the direction and on the same side of Lee Highway as you want to be on.
  7. Follow Lee Highway up the hill, then down the hill past the townhouses.
  8. At the bottom of the hill, make a right onto Ellenwood Drive.
  9. Go about two blocks' distance and look for Silent Valley Drive on the left.
  10. 3027 Silent Valley Drive is on the left. Congratulate yourself for having walked, and ask for a drink!

By Car:

From your starting point: Driving Directions and Map  (Map courtesy of Yahoo)

From I-66 and I-495:

  1. Take your favorite route to the intersection of I-66 and 495. (From Maryland, it's Exit 49.)
  2. Go west to the Nutley Street exit (Exit 62), and use the Nutley Street South exit.
  3. Go through the lights for Sainsbury and Hermosa streets.
  4. Get into the left lane.
  5. Make a left at the third light at the intersection of Nutley Street and Lee Highway. There are two left turn lanes; stay in the one on the right.
  6. Go up the hill.
  7. Go down the hill.
  8. At the bottom of the hill, make a right. The street is Ellenwood; there's a bus stop and a newspaper box.
  9. Look for Silent Valley Drive on the left.
  10. 3027 Silent Valley Drive is on the left.
  11. See the Parking directions.

From I-495 and Rt 50 (Arlington Blvd.):
If you like Route 50: I'm about three miles west of the intersection of 495 and Route 50/Arlington Blvd.

  1. Take I-495 to Exit 50B-A toward Fairfax and Rt. 29 Lee Highway.
  2. Travel 2.1 miles. (HINT: Look for the light at Barkley Gate; your turn is the next one.)
  3. Make a right onto Ellenwood.
  4. Make a right onto Silent Valley Drive. 3027 Silent Valley Drive will be on your right.
  5. See the Parking directions.

Senior and Disabled SmarTrip farecard: In order to purchase a discounted farecard, Senior citizens (65 and older) and persons with disabilities must have a valid WMATA Senior/Disabled ID card.
