Eddie VanArsdall

2005-2006 Past President & Newsletter Managing Editor, STC Washington DC Chapter

Eddie VanArsdall served as chapter president for the 2005-2006 chapter year. In 2006-2007, he served as the immediate past president and also as the newsletter managing editor.

Eddie has nearly sixteen years of experience as a technical writer and editor, instructional designer, trainer, and document production specialist. He has designed information solutions for government agencies, law firms, the World Bank, and clients in the telecommunications and health insurance industries. His wide-ranging experience has included print media, online help, and multimedia.

In 2002 and 2003, Eddie volunteered for the Washington DC chapter as event coordinator. During that effort, he also conducted a formal usability study of the chapter's online registration process and recommended improvements. In January 2003, he received the President's Award for his contribution to improving chapter processes.

In March 2004, he led a roundtable discussion at the chapter's annual Career Day event on Microsoft Word workgroup templates and practical issues and problems that technical writers often experience when using Word.

Footnote: Eddie is also an accomplished Jazz vocalist who uses the stage name of Eddie Vann. Eddie won a Wammie Award from the Washington (DC) Area Music Association in 1992 for Jazz, Male Vocalist; and in 1993 for Jazz – Contemporary, Male Vocalist.
