Mary Saunders has been a technical communicator and training professional since 1998 when she wrote training manuals and travelled the country teaching from them for a small company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After moving to Virginia in 2000, Mary become a stay-at-home-mom and independent consultant to former clients and co-workers. This consulting work allowed Mary to maintain her skills and in 2011, she became a technical writer for American Woodmark Corporation, a kitchen cabinet manufacturer in Winchester, Virginia. At American Woodmark, Mary develops and edits online help for the applications the company develops for its manufacturing facilities. She also creates tutorials, contributes to a training manual, and conducts training classes at American Woodmark.

Mary holds a B.A. in English from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and an M.A. in English from the University of Memphis. She has been an STC member since 2011. She enjoys playing tennis, golf, reading, and spending time with her husband, Ken, and children, Jake, 12, and Emma, 8, along with Frank and Sally (her dog and cat). Mary is looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to the STC WDC-MB chapter.
